Hah, well, various of my grandparents sort of did! (My grandfather changed his name from Otto Freund to the much more romantic-sounding Oliver French; meanwhile, my great-grandmother changed her first name to Ada so she would be Ada Adler, and then insisted that my grandfather take her last name so she could keep it.)
