Ha'Penny is my favorite of the ones I've read too! I think I did like the Small Change trilogy better than anything else -- though I did like this as well, even if I felt conflicted about the ending. The character short-hand worked for me because of the way it occasionally pulled the rug out from under you or highlighted the protagonist's blind spots. Like, there's the daughter that she's mildly judgy of for her vanity who suddenly turns around and starts saying incredibly insightful things and Trish is like '...oh, whoops.'
