Yeah, there are two Catholic stepsisters -- the married one is very kind and friendly but a bit useless, and the other one is the bitter anti-Semitic spinster.
The thing with Ulysses S. Grant features PROMINENTLY, along with the thing where Lincoln almost immediately rescinded the order, which is probably part of the reason why everything re: Lincoln is also so hagiographical here. DREAMBOAT ABRAHAM LINCOLN SEES DEEP INTO ALL HEARTS INDEED.
