In this first-person story, an Ordinary Fellow goes on vacation with his buddy and his buddy's new wife who has never left her small village, and likes to sleep in the sun all day and refuses to go near the water, and everything is fine except this CAT keeps coming and BUGGING him all night, and when he complains the local villagers are like "don't mess with the cats! the cats are lucky!" but finally he can't TAKE it any more and he buys a revolver and shoots the cat and THEN, PERPLEXINGLY, his buddy's new wife is dead with a gunshot wound?? How did that happen?? Inexplicable!!!

(I checked timelines and it seems like this story came out slightly before the Cat People movie but well after the short story it is based on, so we can't claim Dorothy as the originator on that one.)
