I have been on hold for the book at the library FOREVER. I'll probably read it eventually! But as it turned out, I am grateful that things played out as I did, because I get the impression that the film would have suffered by comparison for me, too, and as it was I could enjoy it pretty much wholeheartedly and immersively without trying to analyze the comparison. The visuals! The sound design!
