As far as I can tell, Peter's attitude seems to be "well, Mark was kind of a twerp and had HIGH self-esteem, so if you drove him to suicide you must have really been an exceptionally horrible and manipulative person! ... but semi-accidentally shooting him in a lover's quarrel is completely understandable, he was definitely a major twerp, anyone would probably have done the same -"
