Frankly, I think the "Cathy isn't actually a changeling" twist was one twist too far, or maybe I just think the aftermath of the untwist should have been handled better?
I had extremely mixed feelings about this book (can I feel any sympathy at all for evangelizers? Does It Count As Murder? Why does anyone in Faerie care about these ineffectual missionaries anyway? Could you have Tried Harder re: Lilith?) but I will put in a very good word indeed for the scenes with/in the whale. Those were truly magical and as imaginative and alien as I could possibly have wished.
