Now that you mention it, I think I'd agree -- Zen Cho's fairies always have just enough very human pettiness in them that you can work your way through to a connection with them from there, whereas even the pettiness of Clarke's fairies feels a bit inhuman. Which is maybe why Cho's fairies can be funny; although there's lots that's funny in Clarke, the fairies are always on the horror edge of the horror|humor line.
