skygiants: Himari, from Mawaru Penguin Drum, with stars in her hair and a faintly startled expression (gonna be a star)

The emphasis with Catherine Howard is on the patriarchy and predatory behavior of older men towards young women (her number is a Britney Spears riff which starts out peppily disturbing and then gets more so) which is not the world's worst take. Overall I felt they did better with the later wives than the early ones, but that's partly because the early ones got introduced first and then had to keep riffing on their one note in the party banter through the rest of the show.

(I was saying to [personal profile] genarti that maybe the thing I would have liked most to see, if they'd been a little less wedded to Strict Historical Order and One Song Per Wife, is a duet between Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard about the ways in which Howard looks like but is also significantly different from a Boleyn speedrun.)
