*nods* Yes - and the Jesuits in the book are definitely portrayed as meaning well, and as trustworthy. So I get that. Like I said, I don't have a problem with the fact of it happening in the book. But it's still just such a huge thing that the fact that nobody has qualms about doing it on their own without the sanction of any government and without representation from large portions of the world, throws me a little - especially when we do see Anne's worries about the mission for other reasons. (However, I am also a touchy-feely liberal who for fairness' sake would want a representative from EVERY NATION, which . . . is probably not practicable. *giggles*)
