Oh no not at all! Always happy to talk about JE, and the problem of adaptation is always interesting. I think a miniseries would be a lot better fit for it than a movie, but I feel that way about a lot of books, especially Victorian novels.

I might have just given up on WH adaptations after my parents showed young horrified me Heathcliff and Cathy gliding spectrally over the moors in a deranged happy ending. At least young Laurence Olivier was pretty. (Which was what I wound up thinking about him in P&P too. And Rebecca.)
