Something we spent a lot of time talking about in our book group was the notion that if you know that part of your society can and do turn into animals on the regular, there should be a strong strain of vegetarianism and general wariness around animals you might encounter ... like it's one thing if you know if you accidentally run over a squirrel it might turn out to be a person, and another thing altogether if you know if you accidentally run over a squirrel it might turn out to be a Rockefeller.
