SAME, Martha Wells is so responsible and thoughtful about describing to me the layout of the starship or space station or whatever and I'm always just like "ok thank you I appreciate it but unfortunately I will not be retaining any of this information because I don't have spatial awareness in real life, let alone as mapped from fiction." But it's OK! The satisfying emotional payoff is super not dependent on knowing 'where' people 'are' at any given time!
