If that's something you're interested in, In Other Lands by Sarah Reese Brennan has a main character whose reaction to fighting is basically "ugh, why are you like this, I refuse to do this, can't we just talk about things?" (Very fun book, lots of intentional deconstruction of (portal) fantasy tropes and also it's queer.)
