Right, yes, Chekhov's gangsters, that sure did happen. I'd almost forgotten about them because of the sheer amount of Stuff going on. When watching, I basically had assumed that was a dropped/completed plot thread and so I was very surprised that they came back at the end! (I was watching 2ep/wk with my friend, so plenty of time to forget older plots.)
