It's a little like reading an Anne Bishop book, except less cockrings and more chcolate, and without the part where you're like "and then it descended into squiggles and I'm not sure what happened but somehow everyone escaped and they're in love?" Unfortunately you are always all too aware of what is happening.

But it has the same "Am I high? Are you high?" quality.
