I _think_ the remote-controlled person never was a person with a personality per se and is just a 3-D printed human vessel that people can fill, which is why it's Morally Okay to kill him, but to be honest I was never 100% sure about this because there's zero time spent on it as opposed to the other Questions of Personhood [how dare we not create sentient trains].
