skygiants: Sheska from Fullmetal Alchemist with her head on a pile of books (ded from book)
Annual reading log post! As always, I have very good and optimistic intentions of writing up everything that doesn't have a post linked yet (I REALLY DO), but if you would like me to talk about anything feel free to leave me a comment on this post too.

Books read, 2016 )

122 books overall is more than last year and meets my ideal average of 10/month, so that is not bad at all! And only 15 rereads (plus the ENTIRETY of Skip Beat), so 107 of them were new-to-me. But only ten nonfiction books, which is not amazing, and I definitely wanted to read more new-to-me manga and graphic novels than the amount I actually did, which was ... zero. Next year!

I am possibly more behind on booklogging than I have maybe ever been, though some of this list are things I'm holding off on posting about until the next in the series comes out or something like that. Anyway, the usual drill: if you're curious about anything I haven't talked about yet, feel free to comment and ask!

Books read, 2015 )

So that's 117 books total (three short of my unofficial goal of 10 books/month), and ... only 6 comics/graphic novels, wow. I really need to up my illustrated media intake next year. I think 17 of the 117 were nonfiction, if I'm counting right, and 13 rereads. 104 new books (plus six new graphic novels) is not terrible. But I am hoping next year will have more books in it.

OK, it is time for the annual books read post!

Books read, 2014 )

I only read 114 books this year, and 24 volumes of manga/graphic novels -- that's the fewest ever since I started keeping track. Part of that is a function of moving to Boston and losing my daily commute, but I'm hoping it'll be a temporary dip as I adjust to different schedules!

Of those 114 only 13 were rereads, though (plus the 15 volumes of Gokusen), which means 101 new books overall and is not terrible. 17 were nonfiction, which is also not terrible, although that's mostly a function of my soap opera research binge towards the end of the year (which was temporarily on hold for Yuletide, but is in fact ongoing, for reasons. More on this sometime, probably.)

I am also WAY BEHIND on booklogging. Ideally most of the things I haven't written up will go up some point soon in the new year, but also, as usual, feel free to ask me about anything!

The other obligatory January 1st post: my reading list for 2014!

Full list under the cut )

Overall I did not read as many books this year as I have in previous years; this is probably largely due to writing a thesis in the spring and being confusingly demi-employed in the fall. Also 39 of the 126 books I read were rereads, which is more than a quarter -- a lot for me! -- and I did a lot of comfort reading, and a lot of binge-reading of lengthy genre series(...es?), and not a lot of reading of nonfiction (only 14 of the total, counting generously). Ah, well, we'll see what happens in the new year.

Because of the December meme, I also am more behind than usual on booklogging, but I do intend for most of the rest of this list to get a writeup in the next week or two! That said, if you are dying to know my thoughts on anything in particular, feel free to ask!

The other obligatory year-end post: annual reading log! For obvious reasons, I could not post this until after Yuletide reveals, because it would have been a blatant giveaway.

I didn't read as much this year as I did last year - and almost a third of those were rereads - but oh well, grad school. I also haven't finished reviewing all of these yet, but the great thing about committing myself to reading Les Mis for my first book of 2012 is that it will give me the chance to catch up. Meanwhile: the list! )

As always, please feel free to talk to me about any of these!

Annual reading log post! (DW readers, sorry that all the review links go to LJ posts -- next year I'll try to keep better track on both platforms.)

Overall, if I kept track accurately -- which is always sort of a big 'if' -- it looks like I read 143 books this year, plus 128 volumes of comics and manga. Weirdly, I think grad school actually caused those numbers to go up rather than down, partly because between school and work I spent more time on the subway, and partly just because I let myself read more speedy self-indulgent fiction instead of sticking through the denser stuff. I'm glad I stuck out the quotas as long as I did, though, and may pick them back up once I'm out of school again.

I'm also behind on a few write-ups from the end of the year, but I am going to catch up on the ones I haven't done! Especially since some of the best books I read this year are ones I haven't figured out what I want to say about here yet.

And now, the list )

As always, feel free to talk to me about any of these!

The other obligatory New Year's Day post: books read in 2010!

I only read 127 full-length books this year, which is significantly fewer than last year. Part of that is because I read much, much, MUCH more manga (90 volumes); part of that is the relatively strict reading quota I was keeping in terms of trying to read more nonfiction and more books by non-white authors; part is trying to write every day. I'm not sorry about any of these things, but I still do want to read more books next year. (I also have a few books I haven't reviewed yet there at the end, but that'll happen this week when I'm back at work.)

And now, the list! )

I have spammed you guys with almost everything I read this year in my journal, but as usual feel free to talk to me about any of them anyways! . . . or feel free to tell me to shut up about books. You know, the usual. :D

Final list for 2008! I am still a little bit behind with the booklogging at the very end there but only a little so I don't feel too bad about it. Overall, the booklogging experiment went kind of well, I think, and so I shall attempt to keep it up! (Unless this post receives a huge outcry of 'plz to stop clogging our flists now.' And maybe not even then! NO FLIST IS SAFE, MWAHA.)
