I tried to read this one because I really liked Lord's first book. Unfortunately, everything felt really untethered, like it existed in a misty space without solid connections to anything. None of the incidents (I read 91 pages) seemed to build on anything.
I didn't hate what I read. I just couldn't bring it into sufficient focus to get carried away by it. I have a library copy, and there are other people waiting for the book. I don't think I'll manage to get more than a couple of dozen pages further along even if I keep it the extra week I'm entitled to. Back it goes.

I will still try Lord's next book.
