Last week, the polls agreed with Jang Man Wol that this look absolutely deserved to be immortalized:

And now we're on the sixteenth and final episode! And going out with a bang, as Jang Man Wol has graciously provided us with a full banquet of THIRTEEN outfits to choose from for this, her swan song.

I'd like to point out that is the second week in a row that a blood red murder outfit has carried the costume polls:

I mean I'm not complaining, they're both incredible outfits, but it seems very clear you guys have a Type.

The choices have been moderately restrained recently as the plot ramps up, but this week's penultimate episodes sees Jang Man Wol back in form with no less than eleven outfit selections to choose from!

skygiants: Kozue from Revolutionary Girl Utena, in black rose gear, holding her sword (salute)
Last week, Jang Man Wohl's red wedding murder outfit generated great excitement both within and external to the polls, ultimately carrying the day:

We've got a relatively short post today -- with just two episodes left, this week is both plot and flashback-heavy, making for a relative dearth of outfits that we haven't seen before.

Four episode fourteen outfits under the cut )

Time got a little away from me last Sunday -- if I remember right I was on Zoom from 1-11 PM, which does not leave a lot of energy for other things it turns out -- so it's been two weeks since the costume poll where we saw a total victory for these intimidation shoulderpads, presumably because everyone was too intimidated to vote otherwise:

This week I'm actually breaking up the routine a bit -- we have a solidly respectable five outfits from Jang Man Wol, but also two other characters stepped up their game so much that I had to give them, for this week only, the opportunity to go head-to-head with our heroine herself!

(Though admittedly one of those outfits was purchased by Jang Man Wol, so I guess it's really her vision still at work here, when you think about it.)

Five Jang Man Wol outfits plus two other episode thirteen outfits under the cut )

Last week's costume polls saw another sweep, this time for this elegant evening gown:

Rice-cake-date puffball hair put up a good fight, but ultimately could not compete with Jang Man Wol's green glamor.

This week we've got seven new outfits for episode twelve, featuring a lot of stark black and white. Let's dive in!

Skipped last week on costume polls because, as [personal profile] sovay said in a different post, it's surprisingly difficult to be anything other than a news-processing-and-transmitting machine atm and that was even more true last weekend, so it was two weeks ago now that the people voted for this incredible red dress as the top look for episode nine:

However, we've only got five outfits this episode and I love some of them with the fire of a thousand suns so we're powering through! Here we go!

Five episode ten outfits under the cut )

After tied results from the week before, last week's costume polls once again saw a decisive victory with this fantastic ensemble:

This week we've got six outfits with, astonishingly, not a single black widow look among them! On the one hand I love her black widow looks, on the other hand I respect that this is probably character growth.

Well, this is a first: for this week's costume polls, we have a tie! Though every single one of the outfits in episode seven gathered a respectable following, the highest votes were evenly split between this look:

in which our heroine lounges and paints her toenails, and this look:

in which our heroine throws down with God.

Both great choices, both very much a mood, pleasingly representative of The Dichotomy Of Man and/or The Dichotomy of Immortal Ghost Hoteliers.

This week we hit the midway point of the drama and the field is a little narrower; Jang Man Wol's busy with the heightening drama and only has time to change into five outfits, but several of them are OUTFITS.

Last week's costume polls presented another extremely strong field, but Jang Man Wol's beach mushroom hat completely overshadowed all comers:

This week we've got a nice variety of slightly more casual looks, including our heroine's first pair of pants since the 1950s!

Nine episode seven outfits under the cut )

I'm pleased to report that every single one of the eight outfits featured last week got at least one vote -- truly a credit to Jang Man Wol's wardrobe -- but the clear winner in the polls was this regency flight attendant/stealth Miles Edgeworth cosplay:

This week brings perhaps even more variety, with an excitingly wide range of color pop!

In last week's Hotel del Luna costume polls, this extremely relatable look claimed the lead among a relatively narrow field of competition:

However, having successfully rested and recovered, Jang Man Wol is back in form this week with a full pallette of exquisitely coordinated looks, accompanied by an exciting variety of mix-and-match accessories!

Despite a broad field and some VERY stiff and possibly out-of-this-world competition, last week's costume polls were cleared by our heroine's elegant golden gown:

Which I'm glad to have the opportunity to repost, because the last episode I watched included a flashback to this scene which reminded me that I completely forgot about an extremely important element of her outfit here!

An extremely key element and I'm so sorry I failed you all and compromised the integrity of these polls by neglecting to include it, but I can only assume that the knowledge would have caused this outfit to garner more votes ... right? I can imagine no other outcome.

Anyway! This episode features shockingly few new Jang Man Wol outfits; she seems to be a little tired and off her game today.

Three episode four outfits under the cut )
skygiants: Jupiter from Jupiter Ascending, floating over the crowd in her space prom gown (space princess)
In last week's Hotel del Luna costume polls, our heroine's extremely Gothic farewell outfit to her dying manager garnered an overwhelming majority of the votes:

This week might be a tougher competition, since Jang Man Wol wears no less than ELEVEN different outfits over the span of the hour (and that's not even counting the twenty minutes she spends in last episode's bedsheet.) Let's dig in!

Eleven episode three outfits under the cut )
skygiants: Jupiter from Jupiter Ascending, floating over the crowd in her space prom gown (space princess)
Last week's Hotel del Luna costume polls got off to a VERY strong start, but the clear winner was Jang Man Wol's efforts to dress like her pet golden snake in a charming show of human-serpent solidarity:

I don't think episode two has any outfits quite as dramatic as last week's SNAKE or GUN, but the pleasant variety of murderous widow looks worn by Jang Man Wol in this episode will nonetheless I think still provide everyone with a enjoyable palette of options to choose from!

Seven episode two outfits under the cut )
skygiants: Cha Song Joo and Lee Su Hyun from Capital Scandal in a swing pose (got that swing)
This week, [personal profile] genarti, [personal profile] tenillypo and I followed the recommendations of like the half the people who commented on my post about Goblin and started watching the kdrama Hotel del Luna, about a cursed immortal who runs a glamorous hotel for ghosts!

We have now seen the first three episodes, and I already feel like I owe the heroine's costume designer a debt of personal gratitude (though still not as much as the costume designer of Capital Scandal, forever the truest hero of the revolution, who brought the world's most iconic floral fedora into our eyes and hearts.)

Extremely longtime followers of this journal may remember I used to do kdrama costume polls back in the day; there seems to me to be no better time than the present to spend soothing hours screencapping an incredibly attractive woman in an incredible variety of outfits, and therefore I'm bringing it back!

The rules of the game: for each episode of Hotel del Luna, until I run out of episodes or get bored, I will screencap all of heroine Jang Man-wol's costume changes and present them for your viewing pleasure. At the end of each post, you, the reader, will have the opportunity to vote on your favorite! No knowledge of fashion or kdrama is required to play; all I ask is that you truly follow your heart.

(If someone else pulls out an especially iconic outfit they may get a feature slot, but as of three episodes in I've seen nothing to challenge any of Jang Man-wol's looks. But who knows, someone may surprise us!)

Anyway the first episode features no less than NINE Jang Man-wol outfits, so we're off to a strong start. )

Thank you all for playing, we will return in two or three days to tally the victor and spam the dwlist with more outfits.
skygiants: Nice from Baccano! in post-explosion ecstasy (maybe too excited . . .?)
It's the first night of Hanukkah, also Christmas Eve! Normally at this time I would be prepping to go to New York for the traditional Chinese food and a movie, but I have had too much travel this year and yet more coming up, so instead I am home on my couch with Chinese food, and that is also pretty OK.

Meanwhile, as we wait for the Yuletide archive to open, seems like it's a good time for another costume poll!

Last time, we actually ended up with a neck and neck tie between the two wardrobe extremes of Jeremy, a complicated man who contains multitudes:

The people love Prince Jeremy! The people also love weird yellow plaid-skirted hobo Jeremy.

But will the people also love ...

In last week's resurrected You're Beautiful costume polls, our favorite crossdressing nun Go Mi Nam pulled out her very first victory. The audience has spoken: the elfin poncho of woe is this winter's must-have accessory!

Congratulations, Go Mi Nam, and enjoy your victory while you rest on your laurels this episode; you earned it.

skygiants: Na Yeo Kyeung, from Capital Scandal, giving a big thumbs-up (seal of approval)
Some of you who were around here in 2011 may remember when I used to do tv fashion costume polls. I got all the way through sixteen episodes of my beloved flora-fedora-filled Capital Scandal and six episodes into You're Beautiful, the kdrama featuring a nun who joins the world's most amazingly-dressed boyband, before grad school proved to be enough of a timesuck that I gave up.

Well, it is a dark time, friends, and as a result, I have been rewatching You're Beautiful with [personal profile] tenillypo, and AS A RESULT, I think it is time -- half a decade later! -- that I finish what I began five years ago, because I personally feel I could use some quality time with some really astounding fashion and I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

Let me start by catching you up on the winners of the first six You're Beautiful costume polls. )

So ... now that you all have a sense of what you can expect, who's ready to THROW DOWN with You're Beautiful, episode 7?

So one of the things I am doing while I am in Boston is making [personal profile] shati give me a crash course on Bollywood 101. Last night we watched Om Shanti Om, and as soon as it was done I turned to her and demanded, "HAND OVER YOUR DVD, I NEED TO SCREENCAP."

Because first of all, Om Shanti Om is like a shot of pure hilarity laced with AMAZING EPIC, but second of all, the costumes are the best thing I have seen since You're Beautiful, and I don't say that lightly!

Rainbow, sequins, leather and SO MUCH MORE )

ANYWAY. I was considering doing a costume poll, but . . . how is it even possible to pick a top five! IS TOO MUCH. So instead, I am going to offer you CATEGORIES of awesome, and you can tell me your actual favorite costume in comments. Reasonable?

Sometimes, the best answer for homework stress is brain candy YA fiction. Sometimes, it's AMAZING KDRAMA COSTUMES!

So last time we had a You're Beautiful costume poll, He Yi narrowly edged ahead of the other competitors in her super-stylish bling:

But this round, it's a Capital Scandal flashback as we rock the AWESOME HEADGEAR.
