Wikipedia seems to agree with this description! And in fact has some details about EVEN FURTHER and highly complex House of Representatives scheming on the part of Burr and some of his buddies to win Burr the presidency that may or may not have actually occurred, but which everyone at the time seems to have been fairly convinced about.
