I would absolutely read the John Watson Medical Adventures. I feel like many people who write detective stories and try for a Watson-Holmes paradigm don't quite understand the actual things that make a Watson-Holmes paradigm work.

I read a few Margery Allinghams last year and enjoyed them but never got round to writing them up; however, I had to stop after Police at the Funeral, which revolves around THE SHAME AND THE SCANDAL of A MIXED-RACE RELATIVE, and have not yet gotten the fortitude to go on.
