skygiantsLast week's costume polls saw another sweep, this time for this elegant evening gown:
Rice-cake-date puffball hair put up a good fight, but ultimately could not compete with Jang Man Wol's green glamor.
This week we've got seven new outfits for episode twelve, featuring a lot of stark black and white. Let's dive in!
1.
We're three-quarters of the way through the show now, with stakes ramping up, and nowhere is that clearer than in this opening look. Sure, the dress is gorgeous, but observe!
Not only is her hair distinctly messy -- she didn't do her nails! This is some Howl Pendragon 'oh no he's really in love, he rushed out without doing his facial' energy and we respect it.

That said, nothing perks up Jang Man Wol's fashion game like the prospect of some sweet vengeance.
Black leather miniskirt, intimidation shoulderpads, fuck-off heels, we are ready to RUMBLE.
Look at that fan! One could argue that the perfect intimidation is carried out with an accessory that says 'I'm so much better than you I don't even need an edged weapon for this throwdown.'

And now for something completely different!
I truly love this look, it's been so carefully put together by someone who heard about the concept of a ministering angel, once, and thought it sounded, like, pretty sexy? Ministering angel, but make it lingerie.
I mean, she clearly does not ... have a lot of experience with the 'comfort' part of hurt-comfort .... and her cosplay into the role is, you know, coming from a specific place, and that specific place is thirst. But she's trying!

As much as I'm always glad to see this signature silver rose pin, I was not super into this look at first -- it's just not that exciting compared to some of her other black dresses.
With the full silhouette, I like it a little better; the jaunty combo of the A-line skirt and ponytail make a nice aesthetic contrast with all the black.
It's certainly a cute twist on the Grim Reaper, but if she's trying for the aesthetic contrast, I'm not really sure she's quite getting there. This is not midnight blue with black accents; this is definitely black.

For reference, this is what her colleague the actual Grim Reaper wears! Also a very nice purple suit from Jang Man Wol.
Unfortunately we never see the bottom half but I do really like those tiny brush earrings, they're very classy.

Anyway: back to midnight blue and black. If this had been what she was wearing in the last scene, I would absolutely have ceded her the point. Maybe she pulled this out of her closet to retroactively justify the claim?
The aesthetic is ... maybe a little Beauxbatons, and I don't know why she's so into random drapey panels on her blouses right now -- it really does feel kind of like a redux of the previous outfit, with a very slightly different color scheme -- but I do like the midnight blue, and the hairstick is very pretty!

And for the final outfit this episode, we move from stark black back to stark white!
I'm slightly concerned about the explosion of ruffles, but it does add a degree of visual interest to an outfit that's otherwise a little one-note.
