I think you would probably enjoy it! It is very much in the 'here is a society completely different from ours; we will now plunge you into the midst of it and let you figure it out' model of fantasy-writing, which makes it a dense but interesting read.

(It is more in the 'political scheming' vein than the 'stoic warrior' vein, but it is very stoic and angsty political scheming. *solemn*)
