I'm suddenly acquiring thoughts about how the term OTP carries the implication "They should live happily ever after together," or at least, in the cases in which they don't (Will/Lyra comes to mind), "They should always love each other and wish they were living happily ever after together." Really interesting relationships aren't always lifelong. Actually, that's on the list of interesting things about the Snicket books; marriages and long-term relationships can only remain stable until death if the partners die young!
