Hah, yeah - this book also references the perception that kids asking for pork-free meals in schools is a zomg-threat-to-laïcité, which . . . again, is extremely alien to me. (And then there was the OMG SHOCKING story of a Jewish principal who wished her Jewish students happy Rosh Hashanah, and the Muslim kids who ate in the classroom at the end of the day because they'd been fasting for Ramadan, and - it's kind of shocking to me that this would be shocking, basically, although I guess it shouldn't be.)
