genarti is the LEAST HELPFUL PERSON EVER. I would just like to announce this now.

Because when I mentioned to her, like an idiot, that I thought it would be excellent if there was a fic-and-art exchange centered around female characters from Fullmetal Alchemist along the lines of the extremely awesome atla_ladyfest that the equally awesome meredyd set up last summer . . . instead of doing the helpful thing and reminding me that I am terrible at organization and have no time this summer and am terrified of self-promotion and all those things that go into doing a fandom fic exchange thing, she said, "I WOULD CO-MOD. Also the community name fma_ladyfest is open! :D"


So, uh. I guess . . . um, I guess this is a preliminary interest-gauging post to find out if anyone else thinks it's a good idea to set up a summer--->fall exchange focused on The Ladies of Fullmetal Alchemist: Look, Female Characters Are Seriously Awesome, Sometimes Especially When Hanging Out With Each Other.

Are we completely on crack? Should we really consider doing this?

I guess the two are not mutually exclusive . . .

Okay, my choices are weird, but I'll explain: I'd really really love to do it (aka consider participating) but I would probably suck at it (aka probably cannot participate).

Permit me to disagree, I think you would be awesome at it! And I mean, it is not like my story for atla_ladyfest was the best thing since sliced bread - I feel the main criteria for participation (if we do this, A BIG IF) would be 'love and appreciation for the FMA ladies' and that is something I know you can do. :D

See, I would totally participate but I don't know enough about FMA (or remember as much) to be able to contribute confidently.

So theoretically I support! But I probably can't participate. And my knowledge might as well be nothing! But I also generally encourage the existence of more ladyfests!

Basically I just want to respond to this by reminding you that if I remember correctly you were considering watching Brotherhood. *coughs*

It's totally on my list! I just forgot where to possibly get copies of Brotherhood to watch.

(Also, do I have to remember what happened previously in order to properly follow along?)

It's actually all up on Hulu! *helpful* Also on funimation, but Hulu is probably easier.

(Nope! It's a completely alternate continuity from the first anime, actually, so you don't really need to remember ANYTHING - the first approximately 11 episodes cover about the same ground as the first half of the old anime, and then things diverge.)

No matter. I'll check out funimation (unless it's similar) or uh - maybe someone helpful put 'em up on YT? (That's how I watched Tutu, after all.)

I am ALWAYS in support of more ladyfests! And I think it is always good to do things that one is a wee bit afraid of!

Of course, aside from pure LADYFEST glee, I'd just make sure that actually doing this is not going to be more stress than enjoyment, and that the timing works for you, since August is pretty busy, right? With work and D*C and other things?

These are EXTREMELY VALID POINTS ALL, which would be the main reason not to do it, I think (well, that or if there was zero interest.) We've been talking about timing - August and September are super busy for me, and we'd have to arrange it so the brunt of organizational stuff fell after D*C and after my big work conference respectively. But I thiiiink we can work out a schedule that will work and not turn us into stress-panicked pillbugs.

I a) am generally all in favor of more ladyfests but b) have only a passing familiarity with FMA, and c) am not opposed to becoming more familiar with FMA, perhaps by watching it!, but d) cannot say whether or not that would result in my being able to partake in your hypothetical ladyfest. But yay ladyfests!

I won't lie, my secret hope is that if we do go forward with this, people will be ~inspired~ as we were by meredyd and make FIVE MILLION MORE ladyfests. Which ladyfests? ALL OF THEM.

I cannot stress enough HOW MUCH THIS IS THE GREATEST IDEA and I fully support its existence.

Though, I accepted long ago that participating in fic exchanges is more stressful and unpleasant for me than anything else, so I probably would not be able to actually join in.

I will EYEHEART MASSIVELY FROM THE SIDELINES THOUGH.

And I have run exchanges previously so if you need any help, etc. I would be happy to offer that as well!

So, yeah. I am slightly keen on this idea. I will also make a tentative offer to maybe help with matching people up or prompt sorting or whatever turns out to be necessary, because although I don't have buckets of free time I would like to see this happen SO MUCH.

I totally love the idea. (Of course, I run the fmagiftexchange and would've been happy to have an ALL GIRL ISSUE, but maybe later in the year, since I still need posts from the LAST exchange.)
