skygiantsWell, okay. I have received enough enablement that apparently, I AM DOING THIS THING. If you get tired of seeing Cha Song Joo's face on your screens, you have only yourselves to blame! (What am I saying, who could ever get tired of this.)
For the record, here is the winner of the first costume poll, by a very narrow margin:
Going back to the very beginning, therefore, I today present for you the top five outfits in the first episode of Capital Scandal. The costume department is still hitting its stride, here, so there is not quite as much glorious ridiculousness as will be seen later on - and also, there's a lot of introduction of the characters' standard iconic costumes, some of which I'm saving for a later date - but that doesn't mean there isn't still a lot of prettiness to choose from!
1.
Let's start with this poor woman, Playboy Woo Wan's First Victim, who appears in the first ten seconds and will never be seen in the series again. But her amazing arrow-shaped green hat and pea-soup gloves will live on in my heart!
2.
Then again, she is seeing some stiff competition from Cha Song Joo, who is working a similarly amazing hat, with the added factor that it is a.) paired with a fabulous red suit and b.) BRIGHT PINK. Cha Song Joo: possibly the only woman in the world who can make this combination look elegant.
Seriously, HOW DOES SHE DO THAT. No one should look that classy with a giant pink floral puff on their head!
3.
Less classy: our newspaper boys, making all kinds of bad life choices from the very beginning. Let's take a closer look at this color combination:
Striped yellow-green shirt. Pinstriped turquoise jacket. BRIGHT RED HAT. And, to tie the outfit together, a look of smug superiority. (The escapee from The Music Man next to him looks positively dignified by comparison.)

Inner Mind Theater Na Yeo Kyeung disapproves. AS WELL SHE MIGHT, given how well she is rocking her UNIFORM OF PATRIOTISM. It's the tiny nationalistic headband that makes it; the well-dressed revolutionary always knows how to accessorize.

Okay, yes, I know what the Cha Song Joo kimono fashion show symbolizes. THIS IS THE COSTUMING OF THE OPPRESSOR. But . . . man, it is so pretty. Look at the patterning! The color combo! The shiny purse! I feel Na Yeo Kyeung's disapproving glare from the picture above, but I have to list it as a top five nonetheless.
