skygiants: Princess Tutu, facing darkness with a green light in the distance (kdrama punch!!!!)

One last dose of costume spammage before the holiday! (Otherwise known as: I am on a bus and want to look at pretty pictures.)

So our last episode's winner, by a landslide, was this marvel of a suit combination:

But it is going to be facing some stiff competition this week, which features my favorite thing: UNCONVINCING CROSS-DRESSING.

1.

First, though, we need to examine how last week's winner has decided to dress today. Personally, I think it's an improvement! While the effect of the two completely different kinds of pinstripes matched with the hideous green tie is still fairly epic, at least the white fedora doesn't clash with anything else.

Though, on close-up, the color choices in that shirt reveal themselves to be subtly ridiculous.

2 and 3.

I kept waffling about which outfit deserved the top five slot more, Woo Wan's or his (step)mother's, and then decided I could not in conscience exclude either of them. Look at his mom's nifty little thirties suit and adorable hat! I would totally wear that outfit, if I had an excuse. Her excellent eyeroll is also a fantastic accessory.

But there is just something about the effect of the extremely jaunty green-trimmed fedora, on top of the highly dapper blue-and-black suit ensemble, that it cannot be denied is . . . well, an effect. (Bonus points for the fact that he randomly changes suits in the middle of the scene with his mom, for reasons I don't even remember. PROBABLY JUST BECAUSE HE'S WOO WAN. If he wears the same suit for too long, it spontaneously reforms into a new and even more fabulous one around his body.)

4.

New contender - you'll be seeing a lot of her (she's evil! We're supposed to mock her outfits!) - SACHIKO, wife of the Japanese consul, wrapped up like a Christmas present in a bow and the most epic pile of gauze ever seen in 1930's Korea.

You don't like her new outfit? TALK TO THE HAND.

5.

Did I not promise you amazingly unconvincing crossdressing?

NO ONE WOULD SUSPECT ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY.

And if the drag wasn't awesome enough by itself, the outfit is made even more awesome by the way in which Na Yeo Kyeung comes by her new duds:

FORCING WOO WAN TO STRIP AT GUNPOINT, while she modestly averts her eyes from the unseemly sight of his man-flesh. (Yes, okay, I just wanted to include this screencap. CAN YOU BLAME ME.)

No Cha Song Joo, this round! I AM AS SHOCKED AS YOU. But she spends most of the episode in her nightclothes, and I guess occasionally other people ought to get a turn.
