Here's a secret, actually: it actually started life as a Jeeves and Wooster fanfic, before I decided to GET AMBITIOUS (or, you know, stupid) and talk about the intersectionality of race and gender issues for an immigrant girl, instead of just the cross-dressing thing. And at that point having Bertie and Jeeves wandering around the edges was just distracting from the main story, but it really tore my heart to let them go! I had to write in a whole emerald-and-orange-checkered suit to make myself feel better.
