Well, if my understanding is correct, the anthology was not actually initially planned as a dystopia -- but all the invited authors ended up writing dystopias, so they just kind of went with it. (Dystopias are super in now anyway!)

But rachelmanija also has an interesting reading of how "Solitude" could be classed as a dystopia in her review.
