That part was weird. But I I thought the knowing Hebrew was a suggestion of alternateness, since yeah, AFAIK English Jews are about as likely to know Hebrew as American Jews (i.e., only if they're Orthodox/Hassidic/etc or a rabbi or immigrated from Israel.) I mean, apart from some prayers or maybe to read. But to actually speak, like to have a conversation? No.
