This is really interesting, thank you for the summary! I have definitely been curious about how recently the "as a villain/as canon fodder/etc" plots took over from transmigrating into the hero/heroine/eldest son etc -- I've had a vague sense that that's the primary trend now but NO idea about the timeline.
