He succeeds at it admirably!! (I did not really make it on my own either, I was supported throughout by an informal book club, which made it a slower but even more delightful experience.) I still think the best way to introduce kids to Moby-Dick is to give fourth graders with Strong Whale Opinions a copy of "Cetology" and let them fight with it.
