Once I had started Beth kept asking me if I was committed to finishing, and every time I seriously considered it, but I truly did not think I could accurately assess the thesis without soldiering on ... and occasionally I would think "ah, a new talking animal has not appeared in a couple of chapters! we are getting better!" and every time, IMMEDIATELY, something would prove me wrong.
