I am not a Lewis fan by any stretch of the imagination but I have a soft spot for The Magician's Nephew - Jadis in the ruins of Charn is such a fantastic sequence, I love the wood and the pools, and as didactic in concept of a character as Uncle Andrew is, I also found him hilarious. Lewis's ambivalent affection for his Sexy Queen Lucifer figure is a charm point for me; she's not just sexy, she's also just kind of endearing, what with her somewhat hapless chaotic adventures in London and all. I am often amused when a writer's interests go slightly against the grain of their intended messaging.
