I don't usually feel the need to post about Pushing Daisies, just because it fills me with such consistent delight that there really isn't that much to say except a sort of happy flailing. (Except for the bit where it's been cancelled, but I a.) resolutely ignore that and b.) tell myself that at least it got two half-seasons of consistent awesome and that's pretty okay!)

However, I do in fact have something briefly to say about this week's episode: Forget about Ned and Chuck, guys, Olive and Emerson have been my secret OTP since the very first episode of the show. AND NOW, MY DAY HAS COME AT LAST! >:D >:D >:D

OMG, aside from the fact that the ENTIRETY of the episode was made of love, so I loved ALL of it, the Emerson & Olive plotline just blew EVERYTHING out of the water. It was SO GREAT.

Oh yay! It is such a gorgeous show, seriously - no matter how irritated I may be at the world, watching it every week just makes me want to go out and beam at people and reel off some snappy dialogue and them give them a hug. While wearing really brightly-colored clothing. And eating pie!

They TOTALLY do. I mean, I am fond of Chuck and Ned, but I am not sure I would be hooked on the show like I am without THE PURE AWESOME that Emerson and Olive each embody.

Chuck and Ned are too sweet. They are like chocolate chess pie - delicious, but hard to eat much of. Where as Emerson and Olive add tartness, like a sour cherry pie, and make the whole thing more delicious and palatable.

Also, Kristin Chenoweth SINGS. And that is always good.

Not only does she sing, she occasionally does so with a full barbershop quartet of cheerful rainsuited men as backup! Which is an image I NEED an icon of.

Just watched the first three episodes and its just utterly lovely and wonderful and fun.

Also yes Olive and Emerson are so cute and clearly meant for each other.

It is the combination of the super-cheerful and the super-grumpy! Impossible to resist.

I just saw said episode on ABC.com. The final scene with Emerson and Olive was just amazingly sweet. I will miss this show.

Me too, so very much. :( But at least now we will end with the joyous mental image of Emerson and Olive: TOGETHER, THEY FIGHT CRIME!

This is true. And crime-fighting actually fits Olive's personality much more than it does Ned or Chuck's, and their dynamic is actually extremely interesting, even back in the "He digs her in a way he definitely doesn't dig you" days. And, "I can pay you in prayer." ;_;

It so does - she gets way into it in a way that Ned never did. She loves poking her nose places and ferreting things out! And they both have that blunt honesty that is pretty awesome for private investigators.

And their partnership is the perfect balance between super-grumpy and super-cheerful!
