skygiants: Princess Tutu, facing darkness with a green light in the distance (nine ayup)

Just came from the double run of Measure for Measure, during the first run of which I got to see the play all the way through for the first time. It has been decided that the reason it is termed a Problem Play is that the Duke is a power-mad wannabe Machiavelli. But fun nonetheless! And I covet his coat, but this isn't news, and so does my co-costume designer, so. I am looking forward to the POST-SHOW WACKY BITCHFIGHT. (I do not, however, think that the attempts to do a musical montage onstage instead of on film worked very well. But it was a cool concept, at least.)

The second run was the traditional late-run-with-wacky-antics-to-entertain-the-drunken-audience, which, as the roommate said, is undoubtedly a lot closer to actual Shakespearian conditions, but also meant that the cast could up the obscenity level of the ongoing show graffiti. Tonight we got Juliet, whose lover is condemned to death by Angelo, writing DIE ANGELO THOU COCKSUCKER on the scenery. But my personal favorite from previous nights will always be DIE ANGELO THOU FOUL BUNCHBACK TOAD, because what's better than cross-Shakespeare show insult pollination?

In other news, reason I love my roommate (of many, of course): "And then [Character] arrives in a giant flying - not fetus!"

Nothing. There is nothing better than cross-Shakespeare show insult pollination.

Except maybe a nice M.L.T. Or coughdrops.
