For my first trick: a challenge for YOU, flist!
There was a memething going around a little while ago about asking people's favorite canon pairings. Canon pairings are all well and good, but I find myself more curious about people's favorite non-canon pairings. You know, those whose love is TRAGICALLY STAR-CROSSED because they come from different fictional universes. I'm not talking about Milliways, necessarily; though it can be something that's happened in Milliways. Just generally curious. See, I will start!
Kevin Laine (Fionavar Tapestry) and Lilly Kane (Veronica Mars). I probably cannot explain why this would be awesome without OMG SPOILERS, but come on! Their names even rhyme!
YoSaffBridge (Firefly) and Henry VIII (um . . . history). The reasons for this one should be obvious. Their love is so very much married. And then Saffron would leave Henry heartbroken before he got around to chopping off her head. It would be TRAGIC and BEAUTIFUL. (That being said, the one thing I want more than anything now is an Anne Boleyn icon that reads "Our Mrs. Tudor," because I am a ginormous geek.)
Mary Lennox (The Secret Garden) and Eustace Clarence Scrubb (Narnia). When they are grown up, obviously, and in a universe where there is no Dickon, but. Same character arc! They are made for each other.
Your turn!
