Some exciting things:
1. I have a story appearing in an upcoming anthology! This one is a bit more niche than the other, but I know there at least a few of you for whom the words STEAMPUNK SHAKESPEARE are not entirely devoid of interest, in which case you should check out The Omnibus of Dr. Bill Shakes!
My story is basically a bit of Measure for Measure WITH CYBORGS. It is not much like my previous story Granada's Library, except that it's also an exploration of religion involving a steampunk nun, which is now a niche I feel pretty safe in saying I have down. Other aspiring steampunk nun chroniclers: BACK OFF. THIS IS MY TURF.
However if CYBORG MEASURE FOR MEASURE does not sound appealing -- which I do not blame you in the least if it does not, it's a weird play -- you also have Steampunk King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar, and Richard III to look forward to, among many others and also sonnets. They're taking pre-orders for the print run (which will be limited) over here, so if you're interested, speak now! (As an author, I also get a 40% discount on the cover price, which brings the hard copy price down to $12, so if you want to work that angle I am totally willing to facilitate that.)
2. And now switching over to my other career: I'm going to be spending the summer interning at Harvard Film Archive processing one of their collections! This is SUPER EXCITING. However it also requires some logistical wiggling, primarily, uh, a place to stay. I was originally supposed to be taking over my brother's lease in the summer, but he went and rented it out from under me, so hey, Bostonians, if any of you know of someone looking to sublet for the months of June and July, give me a heads-up, because I would very much appreciate any leads! I am a great and undemanding roommate, just ask
innerbrat and
rushin_doll. (I am also only interning four days a week, so I will probably be zooming back and forth to NYC many weekends.)

Reference!
Date: 2012-03-27 04:11 pm (UTC)The power to open a fridge, see what foods there are, and tell you what dinner should be! My rate of food-going-off has plummeted significantly, it's amazing. She can look at ingredients and see MEALS. Also she has perfect breakfast timing.
(She's also training me in this ancient art).
Also also, she is awesome to watch TV with, sees all the right subtext and squeaks at just the right moments. And she'll introduce you to the things you didn't even know you had to be reading/watching.
And and AND she'll let you share her shampoo.

Date: 2012-03-29 12:46 pm (UTC)Sorry, I'm just wandering a-and I saw a-a littledust...
Um. I was also going to be like, if you DO need somewhere to crash... Or, ACTUALLY, I was going to be like, I am supposed to leave and thus you could potentially sublet from ME? Of course I'd have...you know...clean. x_x; And I live in Allston so not that close and I'm a little nervous to make this offer because like, it's a little bit ~pending I finish all my graduation requirements and whatever and - oh wait, but how am I getting rid of all my - uh - hold up - thinking -
Okay, but besides that really unhelpful half-formed thought, I probably know a lot of college kids trying to sublet their apartments but not sure about for only two months? Also, where are you looking? because I go to BU so while it can be east (near the Huntington) and west (Allston) and south (Brookline) of there I'm not sure if it fits your location or, you know, if you don't want to live beside people like my incredibly loud neighbors? I'm used to it, but... (then again it is quieter in the summer, probably?)
Maybe I should have waited to write this comment until I had a specific idea. :||||| But let's be honest I'll never return, so much school, ugh /falls over

Date: 2012-03-29 07:08 pm (UTC)If you subletted from me, I would potentially not care if it was only for two months, but yeah, I do think most of the people I know might be wanting to get someone for the full 3-4 months they're gone.
Maybe I will set a thinky deadline for myself, but let me know if you figure something else out too! <3
