Yuletide reveals time!

My assigned fic was The Young Chants, a Chrestomanci story about Christopher Chant and his expanding family.

I have been very surprised and pleased with the reception this fic has gotten! My recipient asked for fluffy family fic; I don't think she was expecting A FLUFFY CHRESTOMANCI FAMILY EPIC, and to be fair I was not expecting to write one either, but once I started, as often happens, I couldn't stop. I don't think anyone guessed me as the writer for this, which makes a nice change from last year when I was hilariously called out in the very first comment. Secrecy IS possible!

I also wrote The Rule of Cool, a Gravity Falls treat for wakeupnew, with shout-outs to Community and a few other things.

I've always wanted to write a Yuletide treat for Lexie, because she writes SO MUCH every year and I feel like she deserves a million treats in response! So finally a prompt of hers came along that I actually had inspiration for, and I jumped on it. I did it at the last minute in like three hours so it is not, er, the most nuanced thing I have ever written, but . . . it has ladyfriendship and velociraptors, so that's something?

Lexie maaaay have guessed me on this one, I'm not sure! Let me know, Lexie, I was cracking up when your comment came through.

Aha! I remembered thinking that the voice was wonderfully true to canon. I don't think I've ever read a fic of yours that wasn't great, what sorcery is this

I was pretty sure you hadn't actually guessed me; I was like, "I'm sure I can't be the only person Lexie knows who likes both Gravity Falls and Community! And I've never even said anything about Body!" BUT I WAS DYING TO FIND OUT one way or the other.

How did you know I loved Body?? That was what really made me suspect Kelsey, after we both talked about writing Body fics and I read hers as she wrote it. Did I mention it on my DW at some point and then totally forget about it? I never would have guessed you in a million years; I didn't know you were aware of Body and I didn't know you watched Community!

You totally did mention it on your DW! *dying* During Yuletide canon roundups, I think. I was flailing around trying to think of other fictional things that could conceivably exist in the Gravity Falls universe and scrolling through your LJ to see if anything sprang out at me, and had a MOMENT OF INSPIRATION.

Heeeee. I didn't even notice the recipient for that fic, and I was like, "Waaaaiiit a minute, this fic which is obviously by an actual early education teacher or at least a really involved parent or teacher's spouse/BFF or something is totally Kelsey's, isn't it?" It's a delightful story!
