skygiantsIt is now an hour or so past the 23rd,, but we'll ignore that. FOR THE 23rd, nextian asked me about an inauspicious first encounter with something I love.
The only thing I can think of really right now is the first time that I saw A Knight's Tale. This was in 2001. Young Becca was sixteen years old, and REALLY PRETENTIOUS about ~*~HISTORICAL ACCURACY.~*~ It did not help that I went to go see this film with another friend of mine who was, if possible, even more pretentious about ~*~HISTORICAL ACCURACY~*~. You can imagine the fury! The outrage! The endless ranting over Shannyn Sossamon's ridiculous hair!
A year or so after that I went on vacation to Mexico with my family. About halfway through, I became ill and was confined to my bed. I do not speak Spanish. The only thing on television in English was A Knight's Tale. Over. And OVER. AND OVER.
By the time that trip was over, I had every scene in A Knight's Tale BURNED INTO MY BRAIN, AND I LOVED IT. This is how brainwashing works, you all. A CLASSIC CASE.
(But I can still spend hours ranting endlessly about Shannyn Sossamon's ridiculous hair.)
