Jul. 27th, 2020 01:45 amLast week, the polls agreed with Jang Man Wol that this look absolutely deserved to be immortalized:

And now we're on the sixteenth and final episode! And going out with a bang, as Jang Man Wol has graciously provided us with a full banquet of THIRTEEN outfits to choose from for this, her swan song.
1.

This might not be the same actress but this first and only childhood flashback is nonetheless officially, a Jang Man Wol outfit, and thus gets included in the polls!

Worth a spot for these adorable pink hair buns alone, honestly.
2.

Can't go wrong with leopard print!

At least, not if you're Jang Man Wol. Many of us lesser mortals probably can, and do. Anyway, I dig that it's, like, a tasteful goth leopard print. Love the silhouette, love the belt.
3.

Jang Man Wol always looks great in red, and the neckline and hair/jewelry styling of this look is perfectly en point.

But with the full view everything gets a little. Hmm. There are pink-and-red matches that work, and there are pink-and-red matches that make you look like a very eighties Valentine, and I think here we may be tipping over into the latter.

I do respect the coordination work she put in to match the nails and the dress! And those cuffs would be lovely ... maybe with a different color? Maybe. Maybe I'm just not properly embracing the color vision in play here.
4.

I do not have a word to say against this bright yellow suit, though I also don't have any particular words to say for it.
5.

This on the other hand I truly love -- the black belt, the slightly scandalous gauze, the strappy black shoes ... impeccable.

I really wish we got a full standing view of it, but since the director has not provided, a shoulder close-up will have to suffice. Look at the butterfly-wing ruffles!
6.

This belted coatdress is incredible, and if I were Jang Man Wol, I think I'd wear it with a short skirt, or perhaps tight jeans?

But, as we have established many, many times, Jang Man Wol can do so many things that I can't, and so it's LEGS ALL THE WAY DOWN. Anyway, GREAT asymmetric silhouette.
7.

On the one hand, I can't believe it took us seven outfits in to get our first hat of the episode.

On the other hand: WHAT A HAT. It says "Go," right? Unless those are just random reversed symbols? Either way, please also note and appreciate the tiny pineapples on her jacket!! We never see the bottom of this outfit but I don't even care, the top half is SUCH a vision.
8.

And eight outfits until our first black widow look!

Maybe not the most exciting variant she's ever worn, but the blue spiderweb blouse is pretty great.
9.

Jang Man Wol seems to be feeling the berets this episode -- this one not quite as much of a standout as the last, imo, but nonetheless a great look paired with the mod pink dress.

As always, Jang Man Wol knows how to dress for intimidation. Dominate the environment! Make sure your colors pop! (I also love the pleating on the underskirt, a neat little detail to give some textual interest to the dress.)
10.

Second black widow outfit of the episode! I liked the blue blouse a lot better than this weird black double-neck-ruffle, but this one might win out for me anyway just by virtue of featuring a classic widow's cap.

The hat is nice from the front, but the fancy feathering in the back makes it kind of a standout, IMO.
11.

Long, blue and shimmering ... it's a nice flowy material, great for wandering the halls of your hotel in a brooding and forlorn fashion.

At first I thought he'd given her his jacket for this scene, but then I realized that he still had his own, so in fact we must conclude that she specifically picked a jacket designed to look like a boyfriend jacket that doesn't match the rest of the outfit, for this scene and this vibe, in particular. And while indeed it doesn't match the rest of the outfit, I guess we also have to take into account the specific mood that she seems to have been going for, and give her credit for it.
12.

Okay, so at first I definitely thought this was a long charmeuse trenchcoat. Fine, I guess.

But on closer examination I think ... it's a two-piece charmeuse skirt suit over a beige blouse in almost exactly the same color? Jang Man Wol. WHY. This is the SECOND TO LAST OUTFIT OF THE SERIES and we're going with a BEIGE CHARMEUSE SKIRT SUIT? Please explain! I don't understand the vision here!
13.

FINAL OUTFIT OF THE SERIES. We may not be going out with a bang but we are also not going out with an inexplicable whimper ... like the white coatdress may not be the most exciting thing she's ever worn but she DOES look lovely in it and I DO completely understand it as an outfit choice so I will definitely take it.
PS: if you have fun with costume poll nonsense and feel like & are able to toss a buck towards the Mass Bail Fund or some other related org when you cast your vote, I encourage! Maybe consider contributing to the bail fund for Portland protestors?

Date: 2020-07-27 06:08 am (UTC)i voted for the gorgeous pink butterfly ruffles dress that we sadly never get a full body shot of, but I must speak up for the beige charmeuse trench outfit--it looks way better in motion, especially with flowers.

Date: 2020-07-27 07:58 pm (UTC)It does look better in motion but I just can't get over the beige and beige -- if she'd just worn another color underneath it I would be so much happier!

Date: 2020-07-27 08:59 am (UTC)I also unironically love this dress and accoutrements. I don't wear pink, but I can appreciate its uses.
(I don't pay a lot of attention to what colors wear well on me as opposed to what colors I like, but pink is unavoidable because it makes me look green. There is no photographic evidence.)

Date: 2020-07-27 08:03 pm (UTC)I like it as a trenchcoat but I just cannot get over the beige+beige and also the weird short lapels!

Date: 2020-07-27 12:37 pm (UTC)I had to go with her childhood outfit on this one. It's nice to know that even as a wee bab she was already on top of her accessorizing game. The pink ribbons on her buns!

Date: 2020-07-27 08:04 pm (UTC)The buns are SO cute! I just want to tug on those ribbons!

Date: 2020-07-31 02:16 am (UTC)I struggled with this one! No massive stand-outs. I love the asymmetric hem and legs all the way down, I'd totally wear that. I want to credit the accessorising - the second beret and the earrings with its matching lip colour - but omg the gauzy pink dress!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for doing this!
