The gods' actions make perfect sense on a functional plot level, it's just like ... it makes too much sense, almost? So they're just less interesting to me than they have been in previous books, which were a lot more concerned with how distinctly unnerving and double-edged it is to be the recipient of the gods' specific and unfathomable attentions.
