Yes, I think I would, most especially if you've got any interest in noir, because Chabon's very much playing with the genre here in a way that I find a lot of fun. But for other reasons too! The universe is interesting and well-developed (and surprisingly believable; I was laughing at the concept of the rabbi-run Mafia, and then I went to Rosh Hashanah dinner and heard my relatives gossiping about the kosher food plant whose rabbis turned out to be running a meth lab on the side), and so are the people in it - I would say it's worth reading for the characters of protagonist's half-Tlingit-half-Jewish cousin and his brilliant and badass ex-wife alone. I don't really believe in the resolution so much, but that doesn't mean I was at all unhappy with the ride.
