A Shallow Post About Clothes

Getting dressed in the morning these days makes me really happy. I think this is because I never really outgrew the loving to dress up in costumes thing, so when I wake up in the morning and put together an outfit, I sort of feel like I am dressing up as a character for the day! So, for example, when I wear a purple tunic sweater-dress and colorful stockings and tall boots, I am in disguise as a Trendy New Yorker; or when I am wearing a black skirt with a tulle overlayer and a short black jacket and the same tall black boots, I am being a Princess Goth Ballerina; or when I am wearing jeans and a giant falling-apart oversized sweater, it is a day when I can be a Casual Writer-Type; or when, as today, I am wearing a jean skirt and a white button-down and a navy sweater-vest, I am temporarily passing for the Preppiest Prep Who Ever Prepped. It helps that I have a job that lets me dress up nicely without feeling silly but does not particularly care about the particulars.

So yes, in other words, I am super-mature about Dressing Like a Grownup. :D

And now, stealing a question from schiarire but with a twist: who are you dressing as today?

Sometimes I take fashion tips from comic book characters -- I have dressed in faux Layla Miller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layla_Miller) style to be a scene kid once.

But today, like 99% of other days, I am in plain black pants (sometimes it is jeans) and a nerdy t-shirt. Lazy Student Type?

Comic book characters occasionally provide awesome fashion tips! There are days when I feel like I am dressing as faux!anime characters . . . except with slightly more dignity. Maybe. *eyes the length of most anime character skirts*

Nerdy t-shirt = cool geek type! I do not have enough nerdy t-shirts.

I am Trendsetter Working Hipster today! Black skirt with tuxedo stripes down the side, purple tights (from, gasp, American Apparel!), chunky wooden bracelet and new black heels with ankle-wrap with buttons that looks like I'm wearing spats. It's thrilling!

Oh, I know exactly what you mean - I love wearing red, it has tons of presence and makes assertive statements! Also, like Jayne, I feel I look better in it. Except without the actual bloodstains. You know.

Seeing as how my socks are persisting in sliding down, and I just noticed a bit of a pesto sauce stain (that I thought I'd been able to remove) on my knit shirt, I think that Just Barely Professional gramarye1971 has decided to go into work today. *quiet woes*

Oooh, that is an awesome outfit. (Colorful tights make me so happy! I only recently bought a few pairs so now I am wearing them like every day, which actually led to this conversation:

BOSS: So, Becca, I detect a new man in your life!

BOSS: All the tights and skirts every day!
BECCA: No no no no no, it is just that I love my tights so much! :D :D :D)

Marvellous! I like this one much better. In fact, I may have to use this one the next time I go into work with mismatched shoes because my lower-heel and higher-heel black shoes are almost identical and I was getting dressed in the dark.

I am well-dressed casual in computers and doesn't need a suit, thank you, attire today - nice jeans and a button down shirt in my favourite colours - blue, green and shiny! Ooh, shiny.

Hair down days make me happy. My favorite is weekends when I do not even need to make the least little bit of effort at pulling back neatly and can just let it all flop.
