Meme thieving time!

Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

I think you guys can guess pretty well what I know, and if I don't know the fandom, I will totally make some up. John Sheppard does not love Rodney; his true love is a piece of cheese!

I... kind of want to be a hater and ask for Heroes, but I think I might spare you the trauma and go with Buffy instead.

Ahehehehe yeah. Oh Heroes. You probably know my opinions there already anyways, though! So, Buffy:

1. I always feel that there should be more parents in the series. It weirds me out that we hardly ever see Xander's or Willow's families, and even Joyce doesn't appear in a lot of episodes. My high school experience involved a lot more adults!

2. I actually really liked Dawn from the beginning. She may be a little whiny, but, to be fair, I whined just about that much when I was thirteen too, and I would have whined way more if my older sister got to be a magical superheroine. And see above, re: families - I thought it was really nice to see Buffy's family situtaion playing more of a role.

3. I never actually cared all that much about Jenny Calendar. Uh, this may be because I still haven't seen quite all of the second season.

4. I love Tara, but I have some problems with the fact that the later seasons of the show seemed to completely forget Oz ever existed because it made it inconvenient for the lesbian jokes. Sexuality can be a spectrum, Joss! Speaking of continuity, someone else I wish had been mentioned, um, ever again: Jesse from the very first episode.

4. See, I would be grumpy about Oz, but... he got to live. And as much as people defend what happened to Tara as 'Joss hates true love!!!" etc. etc., it kind of bothered me that in the continuity of Buffy, at least, such relationship-crushing occurred for the most part with the guy leaving (but living), and the girl dying.

That also bothered me! Tara got narrative emphasis but had to die to get it, Oz lived but got narratively erased. Obviously it would have been even more problematic if Tara had gotten narratively erased. And Oz bothers me more than it should maybe because, um, I like Oz a lot. But also I have a continuity thing. But basically I'm not thrilled with how either of them was treated.
