Yesterday my company went to the racetrack for a Company Outing! (Corporate America is weird sometimes.) I did not wear a big hat and I did not drink a mint julep, but I did bet money on the races, which marks my Very First Time Gambling! That is two dollars I will never see again. :( Gambling is clearly the devil's work.

Due possibly to lack of big hat, I have also burned myself an exciting neon pink color that matches well with the purple shirt I am wearing today. SUMMER IS HERE AT LAST.

Anyway, I have books to write up, but for one reason or another I wish to hold off on them for now, so instead I am stealing a meme from furikku and shoroko:

Dave! :D Okay:

a. I love many things about Dave, but . . . I have to say, my very favorite thing about him is that he brings study notes to Fionavar. That is a man who owns my heart forever!

b. He's gotten a ton better about the ugly jealousy issues, but I suspect he's going to be dealing with them his whole life - and I also suspect there are going to be a couple times that is going to cause problems with him and Kim, in between the Fionavar books and Ysabel. Because character development is awesome, but even magical lands don't magically get you over all your issues without a couple of relapses.

c. I didn't actually ship Dave/Kim before Ysabel came out (Kim/Aileron! *waves tiny flag*) but, you know, I've come around, as you can see. :D

d. I had an e-mail conversation once with Gen about the beauty of Dave/Biffa from the Dalemark books. . . so now you need to read the Dalemark books to understand why it would be beautiful! :D But basically Biffa is a very large and muscley trainee-lawyer; she's brilliant at the hugely violent law-school-games of that canon and she's also super-sweet, very loyal and extremely sensible, and eventually becomes QUEEN. And basically Biffa/Dave would be the best OTP of GIANT AND CUDDLY BERSERKER LAWYERS ever.

e. I want Dave to pick up his law notes to study in NARNIA!

f. I keep coming up with things and going 'no, actually, that could be plausible . . .' I somehow suspect that Dave/Jaelle would NOT GO WELL, however.

g. Shine, by Carbon Leaf.

h. Oh man, I cannot imagine that Dave is anything other than terrible at titles. I think he would try for a week to think of something clever, and then just throw up his hands and call it "Dave Martyniuk" or "Dalreidan" or something.

i. He was killing svarts. And then all the svarts were gone, and there were people behind them, but he couldn't stop, just kept swinging the axe, and more and more of them fell. Owain of the Hunt was laughing somewhere - at him, for being such an idiot. Or maybe it was Galadan. Hard to tell.

j. Dave, alas, is going to be the kind of sixty-year-old man who does not realize that his joints will not allow him to go leaping berserkishly into frays. He'll probably try and be a hero in some kind of mugging situation, there will be too many of them, and he'll get a knife in the ribs.
