In non-seduction news, a while back I recced my friend Rahul the Temeraire books. He read them and was promptly inspired to write a blog post about a navy staffed entirely by Lord Nelsons. Then he turned that into a short Golden Age of Sail parody IN SPACE called Death's Flag is Never at Half-Mast and sold it to an online magazine, where you can now read it!

I think I get, like, one percent of the credit for the story for giving him the Temeraire books to begin with, which is more stake than I have ever had in a published story before, so I feel a bit smug about this. My booklogging has led to material gain for somebody! VALIDATION. By chain of association, those of you who told me to read Naomi Novik can also feel smug and claim point five percent of the credit. Rahul also wishes to point out that his moustache is clearly the most glorious on the author page, but in the name of truth in advertising I must sadly let you all know that as of the last time I saw him it no longer exists.

You should write such a crossover! I commentficced a random encounter between Mikage and Lacey a while back, but I would love to try a full story at some point...

It's just...unconscionable to me that PEOPLE WANT TO SLEEP WITH AKIO. He's creepy as hell and um, represents the negative gendered ideals the show looks down on. What the hell people? Stop weirding me out!

I also find it SOMEWHAT INCOMPREHENSIBLE, seeing as Akio is the biggest creeper whoever lived. I am pretty sure that the only explanation is indeed the fact that Akio's in-universe bizarre seduction powers extend in some cases through the fourth wall!

NATO takes over command of military operations in Libya

[b]NATO is taking over command of military operations in Libya from coalition forces, world media reported Sunday.[/b]

The UN Security Council imposed the no-fly zone over Libya on March 17, along with ordering "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from Muammar Gaddafi's attacks on rebel-held towns.

The 28 NATO ambassadors met on Sunday to decide on further military plans in Libya.

The United States transfers command for a no-fly zone over Libya to NATO, while coalition forces will continue to protect civilian population from attacks by Gaddafi forces.

The military operation in Libya, codenamed Odyssey Dawn, has been conducted so far jointly by 13 states, including the United States, Britain and France.

NATO members decided on Thursday to assume responsibility for the enforcement of a no-fly zone in Libya, but could not agree on taking full command of all military operations in the country.

Meanwhile, leaders of the 27 European Union states on Thursday issued a statement saying the EU stood ready to assist in building a new Libya "in cooperation with the United Nations, the Arab League, the African Union and others."
