Today I'm going to steal an idea from innerbrat, who has been building an extensive playlist for her Yuletide fic, and then had the bright notion to post a portion of it to tantalize everyone who doesn't know what she's writing.

So I immediately decided that I wanted to do this too, even though my Yuletide fic is really really hard to find a good soundtrack for, guys, like, it should not be so challenging but it totally is!

Nonetheless I have now spent enough time looking that I have built up a respectable playlist, and here are five songs from it

. . . OR LIZZIE BENNET DIARIES. No, but I don't know if you were into LBD yet when signups for Yuletide opened, I'm standing by my first guess. (Not that that really narrows it down much.)

I sadly couldn't list all of my best/most apt songs, because they would 1000% give it away. But I can safely say that Lizzie Bennet Diaries superheroes AU is not what I'm doing! Though now I really want that to exist omg.

I was into LBD at the time of Yuletide signups, though! I've been watching since I think May-ish?

ME TOO. Pay attention, LBD fic writers! I'm hoping this will follow the rule that now we've thought of it it will spontaneously spring into existence.

I think I have too! Maybe? It's hard to remember, I keep forgetting it's been going on for so long!

I always think about it, but usually my songs are so obvious that they can't be shared in this context. For example, in the fic you are betaing, the song that inspired the fic is the song that goes on the playlist first... and it's going to be a dead giveaway for the story, if I finish it. (There are other songs on the playlist. They are fairly obvious too.)

If I have time, I'll write another story as well. Some of the less obvious songs that go with it include Seanan McGuire, "Wicked Girls" ("And the rules that we live by are simple and clear / be wicked and lovely and don't live in fear") and the Beatles, "Let it Be" ("When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary calls to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.")

Ahahahaha. I have this trouble with a playlist as well. I started making one up and then thought, this will totally give away my fandom (well, for the recipient, who may be the only person who actually would know the fandom even exists!) -- at least it would certainly give away the genre of the fandom.

Haha, my problem is exactly the opposite! Although there is one song up there that probably provides a reasonable clue, so it would not be impossible for someone to guess. But I feel like people generally do not write many songs for the genre of fic I am writing . . .

The use of that particular Seanan McGuire song suggests an obvious fandom to me (or at least an obvious author-of-fandoms) but I could easily be jumping to conclusions here. I will look forward to that story whatever it is, though!
